An overview of the first episode of the Korean drama Boys Over Flowers
Geum After saving a student from jumping off a building at the prestigious Shinhwa High School, Jan-di, an outspoken and industrious girl from a low-income household, gains national attention. The notorious F4, a group of four wealthy and influential boys who control the school, was bullying the pupil.
Because of the publicity, Jan-di receives an opportunity to attend Shinhwa High on a scholarship. Despite her initial reluctance, she consents for the pride and future of her family. She soon learns, however, how harsh and unjust the social structure is after she gets to the school.
After standing up for what is right, she instantly clashes with Gu Jun-pyo, the haughty F4 leader. She receives a "red card" for this altercation, which makes her the new focus of bullying at school, all of which are planned by Jun-pyo.
Jan-di displays bravery and tenacity by refusing to back down in the face of the animosity. Yoon Ji-hoo, a calm and nice F4 member, begins to observe her kindness and strength in the meantime.
